What is a honed finish?
Honed is a matte finish applied to the surface of the stone creating a non-glossy sheen and a soft-to-touch feel. Honed quartz surfaces reflect minimal amounts of light, masking small scratches and surface imperfections.
Honed quartz surfaces are more susceptible to staining - thus requiring more daily cleaning than polished quartz finishes.
When purchasing honed quartz, we recommend first viewing slabs in person to see the unique differences each finish offers.
Care and Maintenance:
Lido Quartz products are easy to care and maintain.
- Everyday Cleaning - use a dishcloth with warm water and a mild soap for daily cleaning needs.
- Prevent Patina - Clean all liquid spills, splashes, and stains. Try to clean as up any liquid spills as soon as possible. The longer they remain, the harder it is to remove. Quartz with honed finishes may need more everyday cleaning to prevent patina.
- Stains - To remove stains, gently rub in a circular motion with a non-abrasive cleaner and rinse off. Repeat process if stain is not fully removed. Quartz with honed finishes may be more susceptible to staining than polished finishes.
- Rust & Metal Marks - Using a damp cloth, place a small amount of Bar Keepers Friend ® Cleanser (powder) and begin to gently wipe the surface. Rinse the surface with warm water, and dry with a soft cloth. Alternatively, other non-abrasive cleaning products can be used such as Soft Scrub Liquid Gel.
